Panama is a country in Central America situated between North and South America. It is bordered by Costa Rica to the west, Colombia to the southeast, the Caribbean to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. The capital and largest city is Panama City.
Panama Isthmus was explored first time by Rodrigo de Bastidas in search of gold. Bastidas was sailing the caribbean coast of Colon and The San Blas islands.
Panama City was founded by Pedro Avilas Dávila at 15th August 1519, well Known as Pedrarias, being the first city at the Pacific Ocean and the oldest at the continent being a city nowdays.
In 1671, the privateer Henry Morgan, licensed by the English government, sacked and burned the city of Panama – the second most important city in the Spanish New World at the time
The Independence from Spanish Crown was on 28th November 1821, joining the gobernment of Panama to Great Colombia. Afterwards, and after joining to any other countries, finaly Panama starts its indenpendence on 04 November 1903, ending this period on 19th February 1904 with the first Constitutional of Panama.
At 1914, One of the most important engineering construction, the Canal is opened. At 31st december 1999 Panama gets the control of the Canal.
Our country is divided into ten provinces (Bocas del Toro, Chiriquí, Coclé, Colón, Darién, Herrera, Los Santos, Panamá, West Panamá, Veraguas) and five comarcas populated by a variety of indigenous groups.: Emberá, Guna Yala, Ngöbe-Buglé Comarca, Kuna de Madugandí, Kuna de Wargandí.
As a special división by our Company, we can divide in 5 different areas, as follows:
Center: Include the following provinces (Panama, West Panama, Colon)
Center-West: Include the following provinces (Coclé, Herrera, Los Santos and Veraguas)
West: Include the following provinces (Chiriqui and Bocas del Toro)
East: Include the following province (Darien)
Islands of San Blas and Comarcas: Include the San Blas Islands and the five comarcas with the Indigenous groups
